This is a moderate 3km out and back mountain climb in Ninderry with great views from different lookouts to the east & west. Ninderry is a small town between Coolum beach and Yandina on the Sunshine coast.
Activities: Walking, jogging, families, dog walking
Parking: Carpark at the end of Ninderry road.
This trail includes a steady gradual hill climb to get the heart pumping if you power walk it, and is popular with families and I’ve seen children of varying ages on this track. Although be prepared to carry young kids some of the way as it is quite a long walk for them and takes around 45 mins up and back or longer if you take breaks. It’s well worth doing for the views at the top.
Lots of people walk their dogs on this one, and it can get busy on weekends but midweek is pretty quiet. There are some sections with loose gravel so runners or hiking shoes recommended.
Overall this is a pretty easy mountain climb for anyone with reasonable fitness.
Rocky trail
The well worn trail up the mountain is easy to navigate. Start is a wide gravel path and gentle incline. When you hit the rocky steps it starts to climb up a bit but nothing too strenuous.
View from above the clouds
Views from east and western side are beautiful and on this particular winters morning it was covered in low clouds.
Eastern lookout
Vies of Mt Coolum in the distance.
Western lookout
“Only a quiet mind can hear the forest singing”
