This is a moderately challenging 9.5km out and back trail along a section of the Sunshine Coast Great Walk in Mapleton Falls national park, Gheerulla between Belli Park and Kenilworth.
Activities: Walking, hiking.
Parking: End of Sam Kelly Road, Gheerulla. This is a gravel road off Eumundi-Kenilworth road.
The trail starts from the forest entrance next to the Gheerulla Trail bike track at the end of Sam Kelly road.
The Views
Beautiful views over the hinterland and a very picturesque trail with lovely rocky gullies and various vantage points for views.
The Trail
The trail is mostly shady with only a few open sections. It’s a steady incline up to the top but the trail zig zags all the way so there isn’t any sections that are too steep. But it is a long way up!
Well sign posted along the way and you can continue for an extra 1.5kms each way to Thilba Thalba walkers camp if desired. I just walked up to the Thilba Thalba viewpoint and then back down again.
