Rocky Creek Circuit Parklands
This is a moderate 5.6km loop trail in Parklands Conservation park, near Nambour. This forest is popular with mountain bikers but I haven’t come across any on this particular trail midweek mornings.
Activities: Walking, running, birdwatching & mountain bikes.
Parking: Parking is available at forest entrance off Radar Hill Road, on Rocky creek forest road. Access this off the Parklands overpass.
It is mostly shady and lots of birdlife if you go early. There is one open spot along the trail where you can get a good view of Mt Ninderry in the clearing.
The Trail
This is a clearly marked bush trail with a few good hills. Clockwise is easier as the hills are more gradually but you’ll need good shoes on the steep downhill section. Probably best to avoid after rain when the hills can get a bit slippery.
Rocky Creek
Rocky creek trail has a lovely creek crossing. You can usually always cross here without getting wet feet.
Parklands Forest
There are lots of tracks in this forest. Many of the narrow trails are best left for mountain bikers but this particular trail is great. There is a wild emu here, so you may be lucky enough to come across one.
