Emu Mountain, Stumer’s Creek & beach loop
This trail is an easy 7km circuit from Mt Peregian around to Coolum beach.
Activities: Walking, running & swimming
Parking: Beach access 68 carpark between Coolum & Peregian beach on David Low Way.
This walk is varied and includes an easy mountain climb, a beautiful stretch of beach, creek side track and a boardwalk through mangroves.
*Note: this trail includes some road crossings and some short sections along roadside pathways.
From the carpark, cross over David low way and follow pathway north towards Havana rd. Continue down Havana road and enter the trail to Emu Mountain opposite the school.
Emu Mountain
Head up one side of Emu Mountain (Mount Peregian) and down the other side (there are two trails at the front and one steeper trail on the southern side).
Follow the track around beside Coolum Pony club grounds and then loop behind the sports complex.
Continue along pathway between the tennis courts and bowling club towards Stumers creek trail. This will then take you out to cross the bridge on David Low way and a little way along cross over the road to find the track towards the beach.
Beach
Walk along the beach heading north until you reach beach access 68.
Good spot for a swim or just to get your feet wet on the way back. Although you will need to put your shoes back on to get back to carpark.
The Trail
Mangrove Boardwalk
Enjoy the boardwalk through the mangroves with views of Emu Mountain as you head back to starting point.
You can do this trail starting with the boardwalk, but I prefer to start with the hill climb and end with the beach.
You can always park at the carpark here and just take the boardwalk to the beach if you prefer a short out and back walk.
