This is an easy 3.7km loop around Currimundi creek and lake. This walk needs to be done at low tide so you can cross over where the creek meets the beach and join the trail back along the creek. Dogs are only allowed on the main pathway and sections of the beach and lake. So if taking your dog, you will need to do an out and back along the creek only, but it’s still worth going.
Activities: Walking, running.
Parking: Carpark at end of Hume Parade, Currimundi.
The Trail
The trail loop starts off along parkland on the Maroochydore side of lake and loops around over Nicklin Way bridge then a short section along footpath past the Toyota Car yard before looping back around and rejoining the pathway following the Caloundra side of the lake all the way to the beach.
Currimundi Lake & Beach
This area is very popular with families due to the shallow smooth water and the creek. Weekends are busy with families, fishing, picnics, paddle boarders and dogs. The trail is fairly quiet through the conservation reserve. *Dogs are not permitted in the conservation reserve or on Currimundi beach.
The Area
To cross over the water where the lake flows out into the sea is best done just after low tide. The water can flow quite strong here so be careful when crossing. You will most likely need to take your shoes off to get around.
