Kings Beach to Shelly Beach

5 February 2022 Sunshine Coast Walks 0 Comments

This is an easy 4.7km out and back pathway along the coastal trail in Caloundra.

Activities: Walking, running, dog walking.

Parking: Kings Beach carpark, Caloundra.

This section of the coastal pathway is very scenic and can get quite busy. It is very popular any day of the week.

You can continue this walk all the way to Currimundi if preferred for a 14km return trip – Kings beach to Currimundi Lake

The Pathway

Starting from Kings beach near Caloundra Surf club the pathway heads north along the coast with some spectacular coastal views to Shelley beach. I walked until the start of the Des Dwyer walkway at Moffat Heads before returning back to start. You could easily continue along this walkway.

Scenery

Lovely coastal views of the beach along this whole stretch of pathway. Shelly beach is great at low tide where you can explore the rocks.

History

This pathway has plaques along the pathway bearing the names of deceased military and civilians, along the walkway. There are around 2400 plaques commemorating the life and service of Australian and Allied Defence personnel.
The memorial walkway extends about 1.2 kms from the Caloundra Surf Lifesaving Club (“Mets”) on Kings Beach around the headland to the Shelly Beach.

“The happiest people don’t have the best of everyting, they just make the best of everything.”
