The Twin Peaks Trail: A Hidden Gem in Glasshouse National Park
If you’re up for a moderate adventure with breathtaking views, the Twin Peaks Trail in Glasshouse National Park near Beerwah is a must-try! This 2-kilometer loop is one of my all-time favorites and offers a rewarding hike with spectacular scenery.
Parking: There’s a small carpark right next to some houses just off Old Gympie Road, Beerwah. Plug 2672 Old Gympie Road into your GPS to find it with ease.
The Trail
The Twin Peaks Trail is a bit of a hidden gem. To start, take the fire trail to the left at the fork from the entry point. Shortly after, you’ll find a small trail heading up the hill on the right. Follow this, and you’ll be on your way!
I recommend tackling this loop anti-clockwise. The climb between the twin peaks can be steep and requires a bit of rock scrambling, but trust me—it’s totally worth it for the views at the top! While you don’t need to be a seasoned mountain climber, a moderate fitness level and sturdy shoes are a must.
The trail can be tricky to navigate, so having a map or GPS app is super helpful. I used the AllTrails app and found it indispensable for staying on track. Without it, the trail could be a bit challenging to follow.
Keep in mind, there’s not a lot of shade on this trail, so bring plenty of water and sunscreen. Be cautious on the way down—smooth rocks can be slippery, especially after rain or if they’re covered in loose dust or gravel. I learned this the hard way after a slip on a wet rock during my first hike.
Overall, the Twin Peaks Trail is a fantastic hike with incredible views. Lace up your hiking boots and get ready for an adventure!
