Coastal Pathway
The Sunshine Coast boasts a breathtaking coastline, famous for its stunning white sandy beaches and picturesque waterways. If you’re eager to dive into this coastal paradise, the Coastal Pathway is the ideal way to do it! Spanning 73 kilometers from Bells Creek in the south to Coolum in the north, this pathway highlights the very best of what the Sunshine Coast has to offer.
I also ventured further north from Coolum Beach to Noosa Heads and then down to Tewantin, uncovering even more of the region’s delightful charm along the way.
I’ve mostly enjoyed out-and-back walks along the coast, letting me soak in the beauty at my own pace. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can plan longer walks with pick-up arrangements, so you don’t have to double back. Or, why not take your time and do the whole route over a few days? There are great places to stay along the way, making it a real getaway!
Here’s a quick look at the coastal walks I’ve completed, starting from the northernmost point of Tewantin (Noosa) and heading south to Bells Creek (Caloundra):
- Tewantin to Noosa Heads: This section offers a lovely blend of river views and coastal beauty, with Noosa National Park showcasing stunning ocean vistas and secluded beaches.
- Noosa Heads to Sunshine Beach: As you walk this stretch, you’ll pass the iconic Noosa Main Beach and wander through gorgeous coastal reserves. The path is well-loved, with plenty of spots to stop and take in the views.
- Sunshine Beach to Peregian Beach: Here, you’ll find a relaxed vibe with charming coastal towns and lovely beachfronts. Peregian Beach is a perfect place to pause and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere.
- Peregian Beach to Coolum: This pathway continues to enchant with beachside tracks and lush bushland. Coolum is known for its sweeping views and vibrant community—definitely worth a visit!
- Coolum to Marcoola: This section features quieter beaches and expansive dunes. Marcoola’s laid-back charm makes it a fantastic spot to unwind after your walk.
- Marcoola to Mudjimba: This walk takes you along some hidden gems of the coastline. Mudjimba has a relaxed vibe that’s perfect for a little break.
- Mudjimba to Marcoola: Walking this segment allows you to appreciate the tranquility of the coast and discover some beautiful, lesser-known spots.
- Marcoola to Caloundra (Bells Creek): Finally, this stretch offers a variety of coastal landscapes, ending with the gorgeous white sands of Bells Creek. It’s a lovely way to reflect on your journey and enjoy the final beach views.
Each of these sections has its own unique charm and breathtaking scenery, making the Coastal Pathway a fantastic way to experience the Sunshine Coast’s diverse landscapes. Whether you choose to explore in shorter segments or take on longer stretches, this pathway is a wonderful way to embrace the stunning coastline. So, grab your walking shoes and let the beauty of the Sunshine Coast inspire your next adventure!
